Before Tan: Prep Like a Pro
- Shower and exfoliate your body from head to toe before applying BRAZILIAN SUN Self-Tanning lotion.
- Try to exfoliate the day before for best results—we recommend using an oil-free exfoliator.
- Avoid applying lotions, deodorants, or makeup before tanning to ensure an even application.
- Wax at least 24 hours prior to tanning.
- Complete shaving, facials, manicures, or pedicures ahead of time.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing for at least 1 hour after application.
Application: Hydrate Key Areas
Before applying self-tanner, apply a small amount of oil-free, fragrance-free lotion to:
- Hands
- Wrists
- Fingertips
- Elbows
- Knees
- Feet
This helps avoid patchiness and streaking on dry areas.
Legs + Feet
Before applying self-tanner, apply a small amount of oil-free, fragrance-free lotion to:
- Start at the ankles and apply BRAZILIAN SUN Self Tanner in broad, sweeping motions.
- Cover legs front and back.
- Apply to the top of the feet, blending halfway down the sides.
- Wipe excess tan from knees, between toes, and ankles with a dry cloth for a natural finish.
Arms + Hands
- Using a tanning mitt, apply BRAZILIAN SUN Self Tanner to the shoulders and arms.
- Don’t forget the top of the hands.
- Apply carefully into knuckle creases while bending fingers like a claw.
- Wipe any excess from wrists, elbows, between fingers, and palms for a seamless look.
Face + Back
- Dab a small amount of BRAZILIAN SUN Self Tanner onto your forehead, cheeks, nose bridge, and chin.
- Blend outward using fingers or a soft sponge brush to mimic a natural tan.
- Use a tanning mitt for hard-to-reach areas or ask a friend for help.
After Tan: Maintain Your Glow
- Avoid water exposure, sweating, or showering for 6–8 hours after applying self-tanner.
- Steer clear of Jacuzzis, hot tubs, chlorine, salt water, and long showers—these can fade your tan faster.
- Moisturize twice daily with BRAZILIAN SUN Tan Extender (a Brazilian blend of Aloe and Buriti oil) to nourish, hydrate, and extend the life of your tan.
